DescriptionFootslogging to Berlin (Volume 1)Footslogging to Berlin was published in 1944. Written by Claud Golding: “Being a record of the valour of British Infantrymen in the present war.” This rare surviving book from the Second World War tells the story of fourteen British infantry regiments, including The Guards, The Black Watch, The Greenjackets, The Fighting Fifth and more. (The publishers state that a second volume is in preparation, to include more regiments. We have not been able to see a second volume. We wonder if one was produced?)Each chapter gives fascinating accounts of the fighting and battles during WW2, including the battles of Alamein,  Tobruk, the retreat from Dunkirk, the defence of Calais, the fight with the Japanese and much more. This book is a hardback with a nice illustrated dust-wrapper. There are lots of black and white photographs. Published by Blandford Press, London, 1944.The dust-wrapper is slightly torn and scuffed. There is an inscription and owner’s sticker on the flyleaf. The inside pages are clean and bright.A rare and fascinating book from 1944.Visit The Guards Museum website.See more of our military history books.Related
